Meet JoJo!

I'm a little behind on my blog posts, so this is old news...but I HAD to blog about our latest addition to our family. This is Jo..or as we call her JoJo.
We adopted her about two months ago from a local no-kill organization called Animal Compassion Team of California (ACT).  We had been looking for another lab online and at EVERY animal shelter in Fresno and Clovis, and we knew we really wanted to rescue our next animal.  Our black lab Macy is pure bred and we got her from a breeder that Scott's family knows real well.  While it's always nice to have a pure bred animal, there's just something so special about rescuing one, maybe it's the fact that you know you saved their life.  Anyway, this organization pulls animals out of local shelters just before they're about to be euthenized to give them a second chance at life.  They have different volunteer "foster moms" who foster the animals until they are able to find them a forever home (adopted family). We saw a picture of Jo (who we later named JoJo) online and found out that ACT shows a lot of their dogs on the weekends at Sierra Vista Mall for adoption.  We went there hoping to find more info on her, and I found out that one of my highschool friends who I used to cheer with was Jo's foster mom...who would've thought!?!? This was definitely meant to be, at least in my eyes haha. She is a lab mix, they know her mom is lab but don't know what the dad is (they never saw him). She's 2 years old and has many more years of life in her! What's wonderful about rescuing a dog from a foster mom is that they are able to tell you about the temperment of the dog so you know if they're a right match for you.  We set up a meeting with Jo and our dog Macy at a park to make sure they got along.  Obviously they did because a few days later, Jo was ours.  She has been a wonderful addition to our family. She's an absolute sweetheart and very docile. She was skeptical of Trent at first (maybe because he tried wrestling around w/ her like he does with Macy and she wasn't used to that) and would run away from him but quickly got over that after a day or two. She loves to jump on the couch and cuddle, and thinks our bed is her bed! It melts my heart to watch Macy and JoJo wrestle around together in the backyard, they love each other so much! I encourage everyone out there who is interested in adding an animal to their family to look into adoption. There are so many animals being put to sleep everyday at shelters so it's always best if you can save a life. You can check local shelters or the organization we got JoJo through at http://www.animalcompassionteam.com/

JoJo's first night at home, already up on the couch haha

And....she's on our bed...first night as well, spoiled dog!
