SF & Discovery Kingdom

This past weekend our family went on a little mini vacation..which we really needed! Friday we went to San Francisco and walked along all of the piers. We were going to go on a boat to alcatraz but the last one was leaving and we had nowhere to put the stroller (it can't go on the boat and it can't be stored at the pier) so we decided to go on that adventure on our next trip. We enjoyed watching all of the wierdo's perform their many different "talents" on the pier in hopes for money. The best was a man who cut branches down from a tree, hid behind them (well..didn't really hide..you could definitely see him) and then said "BOO" to people passing by..what a GREAT talent! haha sense my sarcasm?
Anyway we had an amazing time showing Trent the boats and sea lions, which he LOVED, had a great dinner, and ended our night at Ghiradelli Square for a chocolate chip cookie sundae dessert...AMAZING!
The next morning we got up and went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, which used to be called Marine World. Scott and I both hadn't been there since we were young so we were excited to go back and see all of the changes...and boy has it changed. There are so many rides for little ones, roller coasters for older kids, and A LOT of animals, hands on exhibits w/ animals, and of course a lot of animal shows. Trent knows basically all of the animal sounds in the book so it was fun to watch him see his favorite animals up close and to hear him make their particular sound. His favorites were the lions (he kept roaring over and over again), the tigers, and the whale and sea lion show. He also loved the "tweet tweets" (birds) that were in a room you could walk through and they were flying all over the place. We had an amazing time on our vacation and we can't wait to take Trent back next year when he'll love the animals even more!

Trent is just so cute! He looked like he loved that place. I wanted to tell you that Chad and I took the tour of Alcatraz about 3 years ago...before Kaylin was born. And we just LOVED it. I love tours & history of things anyway but the tour is all by headphones (I'm sure you already know) but i'm sure you could do it with Trent. It's funny cuz when you take your headphones off it's totally silent cuz everyong else is going from room to room listening to the tour. It made me laugh that a group of 50 people were completely silent! It's way worth going & seeing it, I hope you get to next time! You may think I'm corny but you should watch that older 70s movie with Client Eastwood called "Escape from Alcatraz" before going. My Mom told me to and I was glad she did...when I was actually there it made me think of how amazing it was that those men did escape from that place! Anyway, what a neat little trip I'm glad you got to go!

Megan, those pictures are so cute. It looks like you all had a great time! It's been forever since I uploaded a slideshow of pictures to a blog post, do you mind refreshing my memory on how to insert the slideshow below my post? That would be so helpful! Thanks!
