Last night I got the one phone call I have dreaded my entire life..that a loved one is in the hospital. I received a call from my little brother telling me that my dad was in the hospital and had just suffered from a heart attack. It took me a second to register who he was talking about as I frantically asked him "who??"..as he confirmed my darkest fear, that something terribly wrong happened to my dad, my heart sank..I began to shake and started to sob. At the time my brother had no further information about his condition since my mother rushed out of the house and forgot her cell phone. After what seemed like hours, but was only 15 min later..my mom called from the hospital to tell me my dad had been wheeled into the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and was waiting to hear from the Dr.
So this is how is started...
My dad is an extremely active guy, who loves playing all sports, especially softball. He was out practicing ball with his team getting ready for the next night's game when he started to not feel well and ended his practice short. He stupidly (sorry dad) didn't tell anyone he wasn't feeling good and drove himself home. My mom was surprised to see him home early and was confronted with my dad saying he "didn't feel good and was going to lay down". My mom knew this was out of character of him and asked him to tell her why he wasn't feeling good. He said he had Jaw pain and neck pain. My mom had read before that those were two signs of a possible heart attack..WHO KNEW!?!? I sure didn't know that. She gave him some baby aspirin and elevated his knees. After a few minutes, the pain didn't subside and started moving to his chest, so they decided they'd better head to the hospital. In the E.R. they determined immediately after looking at an EKG and his Sky High Blood Pressure that he was having a heart attack. Thankfully they were able to get him in with a cardiology team, have a stint placed in his heart to open up the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow through, all within an hours time. The Dr. said last night he thought he had a Moderate Heart attack but then gave us better news today that it was a Minor Heart attack and he feels there will be little to no damage done to his heart. He is an incredibly tough, optomistic guy, who hates to have people fuss over him..sorry dad but this is a blog and I tell life stories on here, so you're going to have to deal with it! :) I'm thankful that he is still in my life today. I'm also thankful that my mom was home, reacted quickly, DIDN'T LET HIM LAY DOWN LIKE HE WANTED...and the Dr's were able to work on him and get him stablized. He's my bestfriend and I'm glad our prayers were answered, and he's still with us. What a Scare...no more salt dad!

Oh my gosh Megan! That is so scary and I know what that feeling is like. I am thankful your parents acted quick and that the neccesary precausions were taken. It probably helps that he is such an active guy. We all love your Dad!! Tell him we hope he has a quick recovery. You guys are in our prayers!
Your dad and your family will be in our prayers! I'm so sorry you guys had such a scare.
Megan, I'm sorry - that honestly would be soo scary to hear. I love, love your dad and will always picture him with his big hugs and nothing but fun and kindness. He's one of my favorite people. Please let him know we're thinking of him and we're so happy he's ok! And to relax for the rest of his life, cuz we need Bro. Wells around forever! :)
Sorry to hear that, but I'm glad that it turned out a lot better than it could have. How scary.
My dad told me last night please let me know if there's anything I can do. I would be happy to watch Trent if you need anything.
